This weekend is Father’s Day, so in celebration, we thought we’d talk about Dad-friendly battery electric vehicles. If you really want to spoil your dad this weekend, why not give him a reservation for a new high tech, speedy EV? Here are three of our favorite EVs that Dad will love.
Rivian R1T Truck
Most luxury carmakers start their electric product lines with sedans and SUVs, which are popular with city dwellers and “early adopters” of new technology. However, no one has released an electric pickup yet. The upcoming Rivian is expected to be the first electric pickup, and it comes out as soon as 2020! According to the specs, the new Rivian electric truck offers an estimated range of 400+ miles and a towing capacity of 5000 kg. Whether your dad is working on a ranch, hauling a trailer, or making a makeshift pool, he’s about to have a new electric option when it comes to energy efficient work vehicles.
Advertised during sports championships and featured in major blockbusters this year, the e-tron has been one of the most talked-about EVs in 2019. Released earlier this spring, the electric SUV from Audi offers an EPA-estimated range of 204 miles and is eligible for the federal EV tax rebate. This is an SUV that’s perfect for taking the kids to summer camp or visiting a National Park.
Tesla Model Y
The long-awaited Model Y is almost here! A crossover SUV from the leader in electric vehicles, the new Model Y comes in both standard and long range models, with estimated ranges of 230-300 miles. Plus, its optional third row of seats makes it easier to take up to seven people to a summer baseball game. If your dad likes the features of the Model 3 but wants the size of the Model X, a new reservation for a Model Y might be in order for Father’s Day.
In just a few short years, we went from almost zero to 53+ plug-in EVs. While Rivian, Audi, and Tesla are on our list of favorite new electric vehicles, they’re certainly not the only ones. In an upcoming post, we’ll talk about some of our favorite, more affordable new models coming from other carmakers like Nissan and GM. Share your favorites with us on Facebook and Twitter!
